Will Moses at Benjamin Art Gallery

Born and raised, in Eagle Bridge, New York, Will Moses creates paintings that reflect the quiet beauty of this tiny community nestled close to the Vermont border. Will has created a vivid, delightful miniature world, peopled with villagers who have stepped out of the past to charm us with their simple, everyday pastimes.

As a fourth generation member of the renowned Moses family, painting is a natural tradition for Will, who began painting when he was four years old. Encouraged by his grandfather, a well-known folk painter in his own right, young Will was allowed to experiment freely with paints. Forrest K. Moses was totally committed to self-expression and passed this freedom of spirit along to his young grandson. Stimulated by his grandfather's confident approach, Will developed his own unique style of Americana.

Today, Will continues to carry on the family tradition. Although his style is reminiscent of that of his celebrated great-grandmother, it is more complex and sophisticated.

Basically self-taught, Will has honed his technique to capture all the most minute details in sharp-edged focus. It is a technique that has gained him considerable attention in art circles.

Will's work seems to be constantly in demand by both private and corporate collectors alike. A few of the notable collections where his paintings may be found are those of the White House, The Smithsonian Institution, the New York State Museum, the Bob Hope collection, the Herrick collection and the Bennington Museum.

In 1982 Will, along with his wife Sharon, made the decision to begin publishing graphic art and subsequently founded Mt. Nebo Gallery, Inc. From the very start to this day the intention has always been to make the best quality art possible and sell it at affordable prices. Keeping the quality high, prices as reasonable as possible and offering prompt personal attention to all of Will's collectors has long been the policy at Mt. Nebo. "Edition integrity" has also been an issue important to Will. Simply stated, he feels that keeping edition sizes as small as possible helps make them exclusive and therefore more highly prized as collectable art. While many art publishers have, in recent years, gone to huge editions and very high prices, Will has maintained his original goal of high quality art at affordable prices in small, one-time, personally signed and numbered editions. Today Mt. Nebo Gallery offers four different graphic options for a collector to choose from; serigraphs, prints, etchings and posters. Admittedly this is quite a variety from which to choose but does enable us to live up to our original goals of quality, price, and variety. Remember though, whichever graphic you choose it was made using quality and care as a guide. It will surely please you for many years and highlight your good sense of style and design as well as enhance your collection of art.

Will and Sharon have three children, Jerry, Lloyd and Georgianna. The Moses family maintains a small farm at Mt. Nebo, where they raise Christmas trees and Scotch Highland cattle, make maple syrup and keep a few pigs and chickens. They manage to stay busy most of the time with Mt. Nebo Gallery & farm but when time allows they still enjoy the ongoing restoration of the old family farm, fishing and collecting antiques.
